Dr. and Mrs. Terry L. Coomer

New Work Begun

Pastor Dr. Terry L. Coomer founded Elwood Bible Baptist Church in 1989 and successfully pastored there for more than 20 years. In March, 2009 the Lord began to burden Pastor Coomer’s heart about another area of the country that needed spiritual help. It was his desire to look at a Metro area in the Southern part of the United States. After several trips to Little Rock, Arkansas, Pastor Coomer was moved by the great need of this area of the country for a sound Independent-Fundamental Baptist church. The need of the area was to establish a church that had an emphasis on winning the lost and discipleing them, was sound doctrinally, had an emphasis on preaching and teaching the Bible expositionally, sings traditional worshipful music, practiced Biblical separation, and to encourage godly, mature, and spirit controlled behavior in the lives of believers. Pastor Coomer felt there was a need for a church which was fundamental in both doctrine and practice. God made it plain to Pastor Coomer he was to move to the area. On February 2, 2010, Pastor Coomer met with a small group of believers in the Hampton Inn in North Little Rock because of their desire to see such a church established in North Little Rock. On February 2, 2010, Hope Baptist Church was established and the first service was Wednesday evening, February 3, 2010. The first Sunday service was held on February 7, 2010 with 42 people in attendance.  In May, 2010 Hope Baptist Church was able to purchae a new church building at 139 Shadow Oaks Drive in Sherwood, Arkansas.  The first service in the new building was held on May 30, 2010.  Pastor Coomer and his wife Kim are veteran church planters and Pastor Coomer has pastored four different churches. Elwood Bible Baptist Church gladly is serving as the sending mother church of Hope Baptist Church. Hope Baptist Church is being supported by several other Independent-Fundamental Baptist churches across the country.
